Become a Member
We welcome new members! One annual membership fee covers membership of both the Men’s Shed and the Tramway Museum. Concession Membership is available. There is no daily attendance fee, but you are expected to work for a certain amount of time on Museum projects.
Benefits of Membership
A fully-equipped meal room is provided and parking is available within the grounds. Tea and coffee is provided as well.
The Museum’s workshop areas are in essence an industrial-type work area, so site orientation and safety induction training is required for all members.
The Museum is owned and operated by The Brisbane Tramway Museum Society, a not-for-profit, Australian Public Company, Limited by Guarantee. The museum is built, maintained and operated solely by volunteers.
At select times during the year, Men’s Shed members have the opportunity to drive a tram under the direct “one on one” supervision of a qualified Senior Tram Driver.
To drive trams and carry passengers it is necessary to undertake the full training course and examination to qualify firstly as a tram conductor and then as a tram driver. You will also need to meet certain medical fitness requirements and you must hold a Queensland Driver’s License before commencing training.
