The Brisbane Tramway Museum is owned and operated by The Brisbane Tramway Museum Society, a Not for Profit. The museum is built, maintained and operated solely by volunteers.

Help us keep Brisbane’s transport history alive! There are many ways to volunteer around the museum, like tram or grounds maintenance. Or, guide visitors through hands-on experiences that bring history to life, like tram rides and storytelling.

Join a passionate volunteer team and meet fellow enthusiasts.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in volunteering.

Donate

The museum operates entirely on volunteer efforts—there are no paid employees.

Volunteer groups like the Ferny Grove Men’s Shed are crucial in carrying out restoration, maintenance, archival work, and operations.

Your donation helps cover materials, restoration supplies, and operational costs that enable these passionate volunteers to continue their vital work.

Donations can also help fund the restoration of historical electric trams, vehicles, and infrastructure, as well as the archiving of significant tramway artifacts.
This ensures that items central to Brisbane’s transport story—like the trams, trolley-buses, depot buildings, and signal cabins—are maintained for future generations. Preserving history for generations to come is always a worthy cause.

Please make a donation to the Brisbane Tramway Museum.

Fundraising

Looking for a local not-for-profit to help fundraise for?
Please consider us for your upcoming school fundraiser, walk-a-thon, bake sale, etc.
We are always keen to partner on projects to raise funds for the museum.

Some ideas:

> Partner with local schools or historical societies for shared fundraising

> Set up a birthday fundraiser on Facebook

> Create a sponsor-a-tram part drive (e.g. “Donate $25 to restore a headlamp”)
